Interview with Aline Garza
Aline Garza is a pop singer.
What inspired your song "Day One?"
What inspired "Day One" was going through friendships, good and bad friendships, but just kind of growing on each other throughout your life, or if you just met them or are beginning, but just kind of getting to know each other over time and having those really good friends that you can always have.
Why did you decide to make your first song pop as opposed to another genre?
I personally love pop as a song. I love it. I love just the genre in general. I listen to all genres in general, from rap to Christian to just multiple different things. I specifically chose pop I feel like just because it's super upbeat; it's really fun, and I love it for myself.
I understand that you had vocal lessons. What did that involve?
Vocal lessons, it involved, first, obviously, like you start by warming up, right? So, you're warming up, and then choose a song that you kind of like want to go over in other words, depending on like how long your lesson is. It can be like 30 minutes to an hour and a half, two hours, some go like a really long time. But you choose a song, and you kind of just like go over it, and they'll like tease you, like sometimes you'll be like nasally, or just different vowels, have to say it differently. You might not say it the correct way. So, you're changing the way it sounds.
What drew you to being a singer?
I feel like I've grown up with music in my life. I know my grandparents they used to play the piano. And I never really got to see that, but I saw kind of like, the music industry. So, I was saying, my grandparents, they did piano, which I really love that. I never really got to see that in my family. But I know my quite close family - I know my oldest brother, Robbie, he was in a band. He started theater, and he sang, and I really loved that. I went to go see his performances. I remember one time, I was at one of the performances. I was really little, but I had fallen asleep, and I woke up, and everyone asked me how I thought he did, but I had zero clue, because I was asleep the entire time. But I feel like he really inspired me, him and my dad, because my dad also sings. So, I kind of saw that in my family. I really liked that.
What do you find challenging about being a singer at your age?
I feel like there's so many different varieties in that. I feel like kind of the main thing is going to school, because I go to the public school. Some people who are singers are homeschooled, but I do public school. So, one of the challenges is facing what other opinions people have against your song. So, some people, obviously are gonna like it; people are gonna dislike it. But it just it changes from time to time, right? So, it's just hard to see how people are going to react. Like some of your friends might turn their backs on you, because they might not like it, and they're just going to talk bad about you, but you really don't know. So, it's just kind of seeing how the world reacts when your song comes out as a young artist.
What have been your favorite covers to sing on YouTube?
Favorite covers? I feel like I did Adele. I used to sing like a lot by Adele. I love "Easy on Me." That's one of my favorite ones. "Heart Attack" by Demi Lovato, because at the end, there's like a bridge, and it's really high notes, and I love that. I love doing high notes. Yeah, Demi Lovato and Adele.
Who are your favorite singers?
Singers. Okay, so my favorite singers change from time to time. It really honestly just depends. Right now I really love Tate McRae. I love like Fauzia. I love Fauzia right now. I love her as a singer. I think Tate McRae, she's coming into concert soon where I live, so I'm gonna go see her. I'm excited for that, because I really love her.
Many singers also go into acting, even if it's just acting in music videos. How interested are you in the acting side of things?
So, I love acting. I actually started doing acting and singing kind of at the same time. I did acting, like later on. I did singing first, but, I do have an acting coach. I do acting things. I love it. I don't know about for music videos; I've never kind of experienced that, and I'm excited to kind of see how that goes later on down the road. But I feel that was just really fun. In acting you get to be yourself, but also you're playing a character that's not yourself. So, you're playing different roles. It's really fun.
Do you have any other ideas for songs that you can share?
I have more songs coming out that are in the making. A few, I can say a few. I feel like one of them is about bullying, because I feel that it's really not talked about enough, and it is, but people don't pay attention to it and how it really happens. Like it doesn't mean they're gonna shove you up against a locker, but it's just different things that happen with different people. So, it's different scenarios. But I feel like bullying is a really big topic that should be talked about.
What are your short term goals if you have any?
Short term goals? I feel like I really want to have more songs come out, because it was a really - sorry, I had a really big time, like it was really fun going out to Canada and Vancouver, and I recorded with my producer, Adam Mage, Don Wolf, and my mixer, Orlando. I really want to go out there more and record. It's like a family environment, honestly, and I just really liked that I have that with my songwriters.
Where can people follow you on social media?
You can follow me on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok. I feel like those are the main ones. I feel like the main ones I kind of go off of are Instagram and Tiktok right now.
