Interview with Aneessa
Aneessa is a Jazz musician.
What inspired you to pursue music professionally?
I was inspired by my passion for singing and performing at a young age, which I began to embrace strongly while living in Saint-Etienne, France.
I am driven and motivated to uplift and help others through my music, as well as share my own personal story. Music has the power to connect people and evoke emotions, and I want to use that power to make a positive impact on others. I believe that music has the ability to inspire and heal, and I am passionate about using my talents to spread joy and positivity through my art.
What are some of the things that inspire your music?
My music is inspired by my life experiences, my passion for uplifting and helping others, and my desire to create music that connects with people.
How do you usually get into the mood to write songs and do lyrics come spontaneously to you?
I find inspiration for my songwriting in various ways, from my personal experiences to the world around me.
In what ways do you want your music to affect people?
I hope my music brings joy, inspiration, and positive energy to people's lives.
Do you usually test out your songs before releasing them? If so, how do you do this?
Yes, I test out my songs before releasing them, often performing them live in front of an audience to gauge their reactions.
What is your process for preparing for a gig?
I prepare for a gig by rehearsing with my band, practicing my vocals, and getting into a focused and positive mindset.
What is your favorite song that you have written and why?
I love all my songs! However, I really enjoy "Saint-Étienne," a song that I personally wrote. It draws inspiration from the time I spent with my family back home.
You should also check out "Gonna Be Alright," a very uplifting tune! I'm sure you'll love it. You can find it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXqcZLRLh-U

Yes, I have been surprised by the overwhelmingly positive response to my cover of Soul II Soul's "Back to Life," which has cracked the Top 10 of Most added song on Smooth Jazz Billboard's chart.
In what ways do you market your music and yourself?
I collaborate with my team of radio promoters, publicists, and music consultants to help promote my music. Additionally, I promote myself through my magazine, Pump It Up!, which can be found at www.pumpitupmagazine.com
What would you say has been the biggest challenge of your music career so far?
Undoubtedly, navigating the music industry as an independent artist has been the greatest challenge for me. Despite the difficulties, I have persisted and managed to build a successful career.
What are some of the advantages of being an independent singer and creating music on your own terms?
As an independent singer, I have the freedom to create and release music on my own terms and connect with my fans directly through social media and live shows. I also have control over my own career and creative vision.
